- Problem Statement: The Polkassembly CouncilMotion post discusses the need for a safe and effective upgrade to Statemint, a common-good parachain, through two scheduled transactions. The intended audience is the Polkadot community, particularly those involved in the technical aspects of the network.
- Significance: The upgrade is crucial to ensure the smooth functioning of the Statemint parachain, which is a key component of the Polkadot ecosystem. The upgrade process involves setting storage keys and authorizing the upgrade, which requires careful planning and execution.
- Proposed Solution: The post proposes a two-step solution. The first step involves setting some storage keys in Shell for Statemint's "genesis". The second step authorizes the upgrade to Statemint. Both calls need to be constructed on Shell and then dispatched from the Relay Chain in an XCM. The post provides detailed instructions and call data for both steps.
- Expected Outcomes: The successful implementation of the proposed solution will result in a safe and effective upgrade to Statemint. This will ensure the continued smooth operation of the parachain, contributing to the overall stability and functionality of the Polkadot network.
